the story
a new perspective
Dr. Suzanne M Hazen, OD was born and raised in Lake Forest, IL. She was drawn to the mountains of Colorado from an early age, and attended the University of Colorado, Boulder for her undergraduate degree.
Dr. Hazen earned her doctorate in Southern California, and upon graduation worked in Encinitas, CA for 8 years in an MD/OD surgical practice. Although she and her family loved California, they ultimately decided to relocate to the Telluride region to be near her extended family and the unique lifestyle the area has to offer.
After her work experience in California, Dr. Hazen chose to forgo the traditional, high-volume eye-care model. She reimagined a new type of practice by appointment only, where she would be involved in all aspects of her patient's eyecare. Dr. Hazen established Telluride Vision in the Spring of 2011, and has proudly served the community ever since. She is there to assist from start to finish, whether it is an in-depth eye examination, a contact lens consultation, treatment of eye infections, injuries, or diseases, co-management for eye surgery, or to facilitate ordering spectacles. Dr. Hazen understands that her patient's time is valuable and appreciates their trust.
Outside of the office Dr. Hazen enjoys volunteering for various community organizations and events, cycling, hiking the surrounding trails, spending quality time with her friends and family, attempting to ski, traveling, and cooking for her loved ones.
